Quality Service, Performance and Safety.

Zereko Mining offers cased hole drilling for a number of different applications including::

  • Underground mining providing access to locations through contrasting materials such as backfill, broken ground and rock. The cased raises can then be used for placement of fill or ventilation shafts.
  • Underground mining applications for non cased holes for slots, ventilation, services, fill raises.
  • Railroad applications such as rail bed crossings, bridge pilings and service installations.
  • Civil construction applications for road crossings, bridge pilings and building foundations.

A video is available for information on this drilling system, outlining drilling through backfill and rock at the Falconbridge Kidd Creek Mines in Timmins Ontario. We would be pleased to send you a copy of this tape and an information package at no cost or obligation to you.

The components were manufactured by Holte Manufacturing of Eugene Oregon. Art and his crews offer unsurpassed service to the mining and drilling industries.

Breakthrough Drilling of Timmins, Ontario, Canada distribute the Holte product line in Canada.
The key components to the drilling system are:
  1. RC Top Drive
  2. RC Drill Pipe
  3. Casing Driver
  4. Casing
  5. I.T.H Hammer
  6. URG Underreamer
Reverse Circulation makes blind boring possible.

We utilize reverse circulation in the drilling process. Air, water and drilling mudd is sent down the outside section of the RC pipe. Cuttings are discharged through the 6 " center section of the RC pipe.

Casing keeps the hole open through bad or broken ground!

During the drilling process casing is added each time a rod is changed - every four and a half feet - the casing is welded and pushed with the bit down the hole. The casing is kept within about a foot of the bit.

The casing driver assists the casing down the hole.

If tight spots are encountered, the casing driver is used to help move the casing into the hole. This driver incorporates a one thousand pound piston and works on the same principle as in the hole hammer.

The URG Underreamer drills quicker and with more stability than eccentric reaming.

Once the desired depth is drilled, the bit is retracted by turning in reverse for a half turn, this colapses the gauge reamers enabling us to pull the drill string out of the hole wall leaving the casing installed.
